NYS Sale Tax Update 2025

Beginning March 1, 2025, New York State now requires us to add an 8% sales tax to all vacation rental payments — including any remaining balance or charges for your reservation, regardless of the date the reservation was made.

NYS Sales Tax Update 2025

What this means for you:

We completely understand that unexpected charges like this can be frustrating, especially when travel plans and budgets are already in place. Please know that this new tax requirement is mandated by the State of New York and is entirely beyond our control.  This change reflects a broader move toward tax fairness between hotels and vacation rentals. In many ways, this levels the playing field — short-term rentals are now treated the same as hotels when it comes to taxation, something already in place in states like Florida, Hawaii, Texas, Tennessee, and Arizona.

While the policy is new, what hasn’t changed are the unique benefits of staying in a vacation rental like ours. You’ll enjoy more space, comfort, and privacy than a typical hotel — plus thoughtful amenities like a full kitchen, free laundry, local insights, and the kind of personal, relaxed atmosphere that makes your stay feel more like home.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us, and for your understanding. We look forward to hosting you.  If you have any questions about the update or need anything at all, feel free to reach out — we’re always here to help.
